Dancing Through Injuries With No Insurance

A look into the tough world of dance in NYC – How most dancers manage to make ends meet and deal with constant injuries in a profession that has little money and support to offer. Most dancers in NYC between 21 and 35 need to work an average of 5 jobs. Only 3,6 percent of part time dancers have insurance. And even among the ones considered full-time dancers, the rate of professionals with insurance is only 56 percent. I'm delving into what has changed in the past decades concerning their rights and medical assistance; and to what extent dance medicine has evolved as well.
